Rice and Beans - Every month we support the Montpelier Food Pantry with donations of food. These items are received and blessed in worship on the last Sunday of the month. We have a focus item that the Pantry has suggested to us, but people can give as they feel moved. All food goes to the pantry. From there it goes to hungry individuals and families who have trouble paying bills and eating. Thank you for what have and will do.
The Good Samaritan Haven- dinner is coming right up on October 28th. Today is the last opportunity to sign up to share your love with some hungry people. Judi is out of town this Sunday so Reg Welch has agreed to put the sign-up sheet out on the table in the Parlor so it can be easily found. During the week it is on the Outreach bulletin board. Please be a part of this wonderful ministry of the Outreach Board and the Bethany Congregation.
Fall Clean Up Day- Saturday October 27 from 9-noon. All are welcome to join in the fun!
The Brown Bag Study Group has moved its Thursday meetings to Westview Meadows! They will gather in the Country Kitchen at Westview Meadows at 11:30 am. Please bring a bag lunch. They are currently reading Joan Chittister's The Gift of Years.
It is time to buy fuel for the church! You are invited to consider pre-paying your pledge or making a special gift for the fuel purchase so that the church has the cash flow to make this big purchase!
Bethany Bowl- October 16, 2012 Fed: 95 Head Cook: Joan Barrett with help from Katrina Pelkey DISHWASHERS: Gary Rogers and Conrad Rowell Helpers: Phyllis Rowell, Anita Rogers, Chris Terry, Anne DeVaughn, Pete Gomez Joan and Katrina made a great shepherd's pie full of vegetables, cole slaw, apple sauce, assorted desserts and beverages. We were visited by a delightful older couple from Portsmouth, England. They were on a bus tour of New England and were interested in seeing how a soup kitchen functions here in the U.S. He is a retired chaplain from England's Navy. A third grade class from Union School came to wash and set tables and will continue to do so on the third and fourth Tuesdays for the remainder of the school year. They are a lively bunch to say the least.
