Financial Informational Meeting - TODAY! Following the worship service, the Finance Committee will hold a brief meeting to answer any questions folks might have about the Spending Plan for 2013 in preparation for next week's Financial Meeting. You are invited to get a cup of coffee and then join us in Fellowship Hall.

WARNING: The Financial Meeting of Bethany Church will be held on Sunday, September 30th 15 minutes after the end of the worship service. The Agenda for the meeting is: Opening Prayer, Approve the minutes of the June 10, 2012 Annual Meeting, Presentation of the Spending Plan for 2013, an Introduction to the Visioning Process, and any other business that may appropriately come before the meeting.
THANK YOU to all who donated items for the 2012 Bethany Lawn and Bake Sale - - we couldn’t do it without you. And of course, THANK YOU to all who were part of the crew – there were 76 of us this year, including bakers and those who allowed signs on their lawns. With all the hard work and all the smiling faces, we benefited many in this community and strengthened the Bethany family.  Plans for next year are uncertain at this time - we really need more help with Price&Sort. If we hold the sale in 2013, the dates would be September 14 and 15, with Price&Sort starting on the 9th.  Please contact Sarah (223-5307) with any suggestions or concerns.
The Nursery-  is now open for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
It is time to buy fuel for the church! You are invited to consider pre-paying your pledge or making a special gift for the fuel purchase so that the church has the cash flow to make this big purchase!

Sunday School-  Next Sunday the Sunday School will begin a new unit called Jonah: The Bible's Only Successful Prophet. Students will be learning the story of Jonah by practicing a play, which will be shared with the congregation on Sunday, November 11th!

Esther Short's daughter- (and Darlene Colby's sister), Carol, passed away on Wednesday, September 12.  Memorial Service plans are pending.  Cards of condolence would be much appreciated and can be sent to Esther at 155 Main Street, Apt. 215, Montpelier, Vermont 05602.

Pianist Matthew Odell- will present a special program featuring American masterworks by Samuel Barber and Elliott Carter along with works by Claude Debussy on Friday, October 5 at 8 pm at the Bethany Arts Center in Montpelier.  A workshop on the music of Olivier Messiaen will follow at the same location on Saturday the 6th at noon. Suggested $20 or what you can.
Visioning-  During our September services, you will see questions posted in the Narthex and in hospitality, which will help us to define our vision. These are “Reflective Walls” and give us a creative outlet for some of our visioning. You may also see questions posted in other areas of the church, so that we can receive information from the many users of Bethany. Other activities such as meetings and surveys are planned for later in the Fall.  Please participate!  We need your eyes to make our vision clear.
BETHANY BOWL, SEPTEMBER 18, 2012  FED: 86  HEAD COOK: Phyllis Rowell  DISHWASHERS: Gary Rogers, Tom Lever and Dan Williams  HELPERS: Darlene Colby, Jane Staudt,  Anita Rogers, Katrina Pelkey, Chris Terry, Anne DeVaughn, Pete Gomez  The menu was NECI soup, baked beans and hot dogs, cole slaw, buttered carrots from the Levers, greens and sliced tomatoes from FoodWorks, assorted desserts and beverages. Fall Clean Up Day- Saturday October 27 from 9-noon. All are welcome to join in the fun!
Can you spare just a few hours- to help at the Bethany Bowl on either the second, third or fourth Tuesdays? We are asking for about 3 or 4 hours of your time (9:00 to 1:00) We are desperately in need of folks to perform simple tasks as setting the tables, wiping dishes, and setting out bread and any other tasks associated with the meal.  You would NOT be cooking the main entree.  You can choose the Tuesday that would work best for you.  If you have these few hours to share, see or call Phyllis Rowell at 476-4277. Blessings!
