Going - Going - but not gone yet. Bethany's Spring Auction needs your help to be a success. Can you donate an item? Can you bake cookies for the lunch table - or supply bottles of water? Can you help register bidders on April 21 - or record sales - or help the auctioneers? Look on the bulletin board by the Chapel and please sign up.

The Nominating Committee- will soon be filling vacancies on boards and committees for next year. If you have a special interest in serving, there are many opportunities. In June we'll be electing officers and members of these boards and committees: Christian Education, Deacons, Music, Outreach, Trustees at Large, Finance, Property, and Stewardship. There are also appointed committees including Memorial Gifts, Personnel, Hospitality, Bethany Relations, Investments, Flowers, and Nominating. If you'd like to represent Bethany Church within the wider UCC community, there are delegates to the Washington Association and Vermont Conference. Please talk with the Nominating Committee to find out where help will be needed. The Committee is Phyllis Rowell, Jane Staudt, and Joanne Blakeman.

Variety Show Dinner - The delicious dinner will feature last year's popular menu: baked three-cheese ziti, green beans, salad, Rev. Mark's rolls, desserts and drinks. The cost is $10 per adult, $5 per child under 10, and $25 per family. The proceeds are for this summer's trip to El Salvador! Reservations are helpful, though not required. Please let Joanne Hardy or Theresa Lever know if you plan to attend the dinner. Thank you!

Great big hugs to the Fraser Family- for their willingness to jump in and take care of the dinner for the Good Samaritan Haven today. This gives Judi Joy the opportunity to spend the weekend at a mini-family reunion. What FUN!! Also thanks very much to all who contributed to this meal. This is truly a wonderful ministry that touches the hearts (and tummies) of many people.

Memorial Service for Eleanor Van Vechten- set for Saturday May 12, 2012 at 2pm at The Gary Home in Montpelier. Eleanor was a member of Christ Church and attended the Brown Bag reading group at Bethany Church as well as being involved with many other groups and gatherings in Montpelier before she moved to Oregon to be closer to her son. Eleanor was born on February 28, 1910 in Battlecreek, Michigan and grew up in Japan, the daughter of missionaries. On November 5, 2011, at the age of 101, Eleanor passed away in her sleep at her home in Grants Pass, Oregon. She loved Vermont and her dear friends here and often spoke of how much she missed all of her connections here after she moved.

Bethany Bowl- March 20, 2012: FED 107 Head Cook: Joan Barrett Dishwashers: Gary Rogers, Tom Lever, Dan Helpers: Darlene Colby, Anita Rogers, Phyllis Rowell, Chris Terry, Katrina Pelkey, Zack from Barre City Elementary School with Bruce English, Anne DeVaughn, Pete Gomez, Chloe Gordon from MHS. Joan made a hearty tuna noodle dish with peas and carrots, a four bean salad and egg salad sandwiches. We are once again in need of containers to send off leftovers.
