A very special thanks to the Barretts for the donation of a fine electric lawn mower to replace our old, loud and smelly gas one that died.

Board Chairs-Please check to make sure all minutes are filled in our Minutes Notebook in the office.

Food for the Montpelier Food Pantry Each month the Outreach Board focuses on collecting one type of food (as per request of the pantry). People may give any type of food, it too will be collected and blessed and sent. For the month of June our focus food is peanut butter.

walk-a-thon Bethany Church is helping the Good Samaritan Homeless Haven with their Walk-a-thon. The walk will take place on Saturday, July 9th at the Barre Rec Field from 10:30-1. BETHANY CHURCH has 2 teams. Each teach will need walkers but also sponsors/donations. The two teams are:
“All You Need Is Love!!” Judi Joy’s walking team for the Walk-a-thon will be joined on the walk by her 7-year-old granddaughter, Sophia. So if you are younger or slower this is the team for you to join. Let’s make this a multi-generational, multi-giggle event! If you are interested please call Judi at (802) 279-3177.
"Ecumenicals" Let Liz Sykas-Ringenberg know if you would like to be a part of this team! Invite friends from anywhere to be a part of this team. Meet and greet people ecumenically! And we won't care about speed either!

The Bethany Choir- does not rehearse on Thursdays in June, July and August.
We do meet at 9:15 AM and prepare an anthem for each summer Sunday service.
You are most welcome and encouraged to join us on any Sunday the Spirit moves you to do so.

The 17th Annual Lawn and Bake Sale- will be held on September 17 and 18, 2011. This is a fun and rewarding event to support our many programs and connect with the local community. Many helpers will be needed Sept. 12-19 - - We especially need a crew leader for the Bethany Boutique portion of the sale. Sign-up sheets are on the bulletin board in the hall with many types of positions available. Flyers with all the details are available in the Narthex. This is a perfect way to give back to Bethany and get to know each other better.

2012 Pledges - We have received only about a two-thirds of our pledges for 2012. If you have not yet had the opportunity to turn in your pledge card, forms are available on the table outside the church office. Your pledge information is necessary as we plan for 2012 budget! Thanks!
Bethany Cook Books Have Arrived- and are on sale in the parlor after Church. Cost is $12.00 and those who pre-ordered can pick them up. Those who did not order, do not fret, there are plenty of extras.

Nursery Care: We need volunteers to be available for the nursery this summer. A sign-up sheet will be available. Many Sundays, there are no children and you can return to the sanctuary. Please see a CE Board member if you have any questions.

REMINDER - The end of Bethany Church's fiscal year is coming up at the end of June. Just a gentle reminder that full payment of your 2011 pledge would be greatly appreciated by June 30th. If you are unsure of your pledge balance, please contact Don Welch for the information at or by calling 223-6208. And as always, if you would like to make a special gift, or find that you can contribute more than your 2011 pledged amount, we would be happy to receive your gift! Thank you very much!

June 26 CELEBRATION! You are ALL invited to join the celebration of the 20th anniversary of our sisterhood with San Antonio Grande. First, we want you to add your touch to the Salvadoran-style mural that will be painted onto the cinderblock outside back wall of the church. The painting will be done on Saturday, June 18 and the following weekdays. Then, on Sunday, June 26 we’ll have a fiesta after the worship service, with food, music, a piñata, and enjoyment of the mural. Plan to paint and party! You can also help us with this effort by donating any of the following items or making a monetary contribution. (Contact Theresa Lever, 229-0415.)
1.Water-based exterior or interior paint, especially bright colors (open cans are fine)
2.Empty containers with lids—coffee cans, cups, etc. for mixing colors

China Summer Exchange Camp with Community Connections

This summer the U-32 & Montpelier communities will host a group of 30 ninth-grade students from China. These students will be housed in pairs with local families, and will participate in educational, cultural and recreational programming along with a select group of our local students. From Monday through Friday of each week, this mix of students will meet for spoken English language sessions in the morning, and will travel around the area in the afternoons, sampling the best of Vermont. We are in need of Host Families – We are seeking community members willing to house two of these students from June 27th to July 9th. Visiting students will spend evenings, weekends and mealtimes with host families. Ability to transport these students to and from Montpelier on weekdays is required. There is a small stipend to cover expenses. This is a wonderful opportunity to expand your family while viewing Vermont and the world through the eyes of these Chinese youth. We will provide training and support.
