This Sunday May 15 Peace Service -We killed Osama Bin Laden, threw his body into the sea, and celebrated. What could Jesus possibly have meant when he said, "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5:44)? At next Sunday's Peace Service, we'll take time to reflect on this question. There are no easy answers, and at our peace services we support each other as we try to meet the challenges of living the gospel of peace in the real world. All are welcome at 8:30 a.m. in the chapel.
Bethany Bowl- May 3, 2011: FED 110: Head Cook; Phyllis Rowell Diswasher: Conrad Rowell. Volunteers: Darlene Colby, Sue Day, Chris Terry, Pat Seivwright, Pete Gomez, Anne DeVaughn, Cleo Facos (it is great having Anne and Cleo back at the Bowl) and an MHS student. Bob Hildebrand, who now cooks at the National Life cafeteria for NECI, made an incredibly good beef stew which caused one table at the luncheon to vote the Bowl the best community luncheon in Montpelier. Wow! We are blessed by such support.
Last Bethany Cup of the year!- Next Sunday May 15th, 8:30-9:30 in the Parlor. Fresh baked muffins, oatmeal, artisan bread & strong coffee! $5. for full breakfast. Join us!
The Nominating Committee- is finding willing volunteers for vacancies on boards and committees and we thank all who have agreed to serve. There are still some holes to fill: Christian Education, Deacons, Outreach, Property, Finance, and Stewardship. Please consider giving one evening a month to help make decisions with one of these groups. If evening meetings are out of the question, there are a few other places where your help would be welcome. Speak with Phyllis Rowell (472-4277) or Joanne Blakeman (223-2097) or any current member of a board that appeals to you. Annual Meeting is in June and new terms begin on July 1.
