ANNOUNCEMENTS

Bethany Book Group - March's read is Saving Jesus From The Church by Robyn Meyers which will be discussed in the Sermon Talk Back next Sunday, April 2.

PINS - You can help make Easter a happy time for a child involved with DCF. Pick up a tag in the narthex before or after church today. Each tag lists the age and sex of a child from central Vermont who would love to get a basket or other special container filled with small gifts and treats. The baskets are due back by Sunday, April 10 to give plenty of time for social workers to deliver them to foster homes. Please try to limit the amount of candy in favor of othe age appropriate toys, games, toiletries, books, stickers, etc.
Food for the Montpelier Food Pantry Each month the Outreach Board focuses on collecting one type of food (as per request of the pantry). People may give any type of food, it too will be collected and blessed and sent. For the month of April our focus food is canned fruit. We will be receiving and blessing the March's juice and other donations this morning.

Sermon Series - We are in the midst of a sermon series that goes through Lent and extends into the the first 2 Sundays of Easter. The series reflects a reformation of the church that responds to some people's desire to focus on some elements of early Christianity that have been overwhelmed by society and culture. As a jumping off point we are using the book Saving Jesus from the Church by Rev. Robin Meyers. The chapter titles in the order we will use them on Sundays are listed in the Dialogue and on the website. Next week it will be Justice as Covenant, Not Control.

April 2nd Variety Show - To sign up for a spot on stage, please contact Joanne Hardy at joannehardy789@msn.com or 223-3246. Thank you

Sign Up in the Parlor for Variety Show Supper - There will be a delicious baked ziti meal at 5:30 p.m., prior to the Variety show. Signing up is not necessarily but it helps the San Antonio Grande committee know how much to prepare. We're happy to offer this supper at last year's prices: adult $10; ages 6-12 $5; ages 5 and under free; maximum $25 per family.
Bethany's Spring Auction! 1\Saturday, April 30th! This is a new fundraiser for Bethany Church, as well as an opportunity for us to work and have fun together! We will need lots of help to make the auction a success! There are sign-up sheets on the bulletin board in the hallway - please sign up to help in any way that you can - lots of types of jobs are available for all abilities!

AUCTION! Thinking about Spring Cleaning? When cleaning out your clutter, think about donating to the Bethany Spring Auction. We will be receiving donated items at the church beginning the afternoon of Monday, April 25th through Thursday, April 28th. Item pickup will be available. We will accept antiques, furniture, collectibles, china, crystal, tools, artwork, unused wedding presents that are lurking in your closets, and other unique items in good, clean condition. Please – no TV's, computers, clothing, or mattresses.

Missed Worship? The announcements, including some that were only verbal, will be posted to the web site www.bethanychurchvt.org on Monday mornings at 9:00am.

Lenten Book Study - On four Tuesdays in Lent we will study a book written by Brian McLaren, “Naked Spirituality: A Life with God in 12 Simple Words” to deepen our faith. We will look at his four-stage framework for understanding the spiritual life. We will meet on Tuesday evenings March 22 - April 12. Each practice centers on a single, simple word. Come and learn from the words: here, thanks, O, sorry, help, please, when, no, why, behold, yes, and silence. There are a couple extra copies of the book available if you would like to join this study. Please see Rev. Mark.

Advocacy for Low-income Vermonters – Tuesday, March 29 at the State House. The Vermont Low-income Advocacy Council (VLIAC) and the Vermont Conference United Church of Christ are sponsoring this annual event to show support for the concerns of low-income Vermonters. All are welcome! We’ll meet in the Card Room at the State House at 9:45 a.m., where we’ll be greeted and guided by Karen Lafayette, a lobbyist for VLIAC. We will be recognized in the House of Representatives, attend committee hearings, and have a free lunch during a Q&A with legislators eager to talk about what they are doing to protect the interests of the most economically vulnerable Vermonters. For information, contact Theresa Lever at 229-0415.

Bethany Bowl, Tuesday, March 22: Fed 100, Head Cooks: Joanne Hardy and Judy Joy, Dishwasher: Gary Rogers Volunteers: Phyllis Rowell, Darlene Colby, Pat Seivwright, Chris Terry, Mark Pitton, Students from Union School who washed and set tables, 16 students from Main Street School in Kim Scott's (Bethany member) class who reset tables, served meal, desserts, and drinks and spent some time chatting with guests.
