Announcements- If you would like to have your announcement printed in the bulletin, please have it into the office by 9:00 am Thursday morning.

Bethany Book Group- March's read is "Saving Jesus From The Church" by Robyn Myeres. This is a change from the original schedule.

Ash Wednesday Services - Wednesday is the beginning of Lent. Called Ash Wednesday because of the ashes of humility and repentance, it begins a time of reflection, confession, and preparation for Easter. In ancient times, new Christians would use all of Lent to prepare for their baptism on Easter because it meant living a new life.
There will be two Ash Wednesday Services this Wednesday. One will be 7am and one will be at 6:30. Both will be in the Chapel. Both will offer the opportunity to receive ashes. The Working Chapel will be available all day for those who wish to honor the day at another time or by their self. The center of the Labyrinth will have ashes for those who wish to use this ancient sign and symbol.

Sermon Series - Today starts a sermon series that goes through Lent and extends into the the first 2 Sundays of Easter. The series reflects a reformation of the church that responds to some people's desire to focus on some elements of early Christianity that have been overwhelmed by society and culture. As a jumping off point we are using the book “Saving Jesus from the Church” by Rev. Robin Meyers. This book is a reconstructing of what it means to be a Christian who is intelligent, honest, and faithful. The chapter titles in the order we will use them on Sundays is listed in the Dialogue and on the website. Next week it will be “Discipleship as Obedience, Not Observance”. Copies of the book can be ordered today during Hospitality, or through any bookseller. There will be five “Sermon Talk Backs”, the first of which is next Sunday. Bring a bag lunch or not, these informal conversations will start about 11:30 and go no later that 12:45 in Fellowship Hall. You do not need the book to worship, understand the sermon, or attend the talk backs.

Lenten Book Study - On four Tuesdays in Lent we will study a book written by Brian McLaren, “Naked Spirituality: A Life with God in 12 Simple Words” to deepen our faith. We will look at his four-stage framework for understanding the spiritual life. We will explore each of these stages and the associated practice starting on March 22 and continuing on March 29, April 5 and 12. Each practice centers on a single, simple word. Come and learn from the words: here, thanks, O, sorry, help, please, when, no, why, behold, yes, and silence. If you want to buy a book at a discounted price of $15, you must have money and order in on March 13. Sign up to purchase during Hospitality. The book is not available until the 15th. We will only buy books that are ordered, no spare copies. You may also buy one from your favorite bookseller.

Food for the Montpelier Pantry Each month the Outreach Board focuses on collecting one type of food (as per request of the pantry). People may give any type of food, it too will be collected and blessed and sent. For the month of March our focus food is fruit juice. So, bring in boxes, or bottles.
