The Brown Bag is beginning the study of Bishop Katherine Schori's book: The Heartbeat of God, Finding the Sacred in the Middle of Everything. This study is strongly recommended by Joan Chittister OSB, (one of our favorite authors in years past) who says: " The Heartbeat of God should be read, studied and discussed in every parish hall of every Christian tradition--so that the renewal of the church may finally, finally begin in a world that knows that the revolution that is Jesus is long overdue."

Concert The Bethany Center for the Arts- presents Lynnette Combs, organist, playing a program titled "Northern Lights" at Bethany Church, 115 Main St in Montpelier, today at 3:00 PM. Admission by donation, at the door. This is a recital of solo pipe organ music from Scandinavia and the Baltic countries. Music from the 17th through the 21st centuries will be heard, from Buxtehude to Part to Grieg. The influence of long days and short nights, as well as short days and long nights, can be heard in pieces such as "Geminorum Kastorum" which
is based on the movements of the stars. Lynnette Combs is organist at the First Baptist Church in Burlington and is well-known to Central Vermont audiences as an organist, harpsichordist and accompanist. In 2002 she was named Artist of the Year by the Vermont Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In 2010 she gave the Katherine E. Dopp recital at First Baptist Church in Burlington and the Samuel B. Whitney organ recital in Woodstock. This is her fourth year of giving organ recitals throughout Vermont. In the coming months she will present a program of music based on dance forms and music.
