THOUGHTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

After the worship service on January 16, folks met to seek information and to share their thoughts on how they feel about what might be called “focused giving” versus a “comprehensive budge”. No decisions were made. Hopefully, another opportunity to share will be forthcoming with an opportunity for more members of the congregation to become better informed.

As the Stewardship Committee begins its work on the 2011 campaign, and the finance Committee works to prepare a budget for the 2011-2012 year, it’s important for everyone to understand how the financial life of Bethany Church is laid out.

And speaking of the Stewardship committee, in the January Dialogue John Maddox, Stewardship Chair, wrote about “our individual stewardship actions”. Indeed, at Bethany Church “action” make everything happen from the minute the doors open in the morning and even after they close at night as we visit the sick, comfort the grieving, provide space for community groups, feed the hungry, educate our youth and adults, provide spiritual nourishment, support the needy, pledge financial support, sing, usher, greet and welcome each other.

Action happens in many ways… by talking and sharing ideas, by pledging and giving, and by being involved in doing the many tasks that make us a vital church body.

I ASK YOU TO THOUGHTFULLY AND PRAYERFULLY CONSIDER WHAT YOUR “ACTION” WILL BE IN RESPONSE TO THE 2011 STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN
