Super Bowl Subs! Order your Super Bowl Subs today after worship! Youth Group members are standing by to take your order for ham, turkey, salami or veggie subs or salads! Cost is $6 for a 10 inch sub or salad, with profits going to support the Youth Group at Bethany Church. Subs and salads will be available for pick-up after worship on Super Bowl Sunday, February 6th.
The Brown Bag Group will be starting a new book this week. The Heartbeat of God by Joan Chittister OSB. This would be a good time to join. All are welcome, 11:45, Thursday in the Parlor.
Studying the Gospel of Matthew- Are you looking for an in-depth Bible Study? The Vermont Academy of Spiritual Training (VAST) is offering a study of the Gospel of Matthew at the Vermont Conference Office in Randolph on the third Saturday of the month from February - June. Associate Conference Minister Pam Lucas will be teaching the course. Cost is $75 plus books. New Members: If you have an interest in joining Bethany Church, there will be a New Member Class today after Worship. Class will be about orienting people to membership and Bethany Church. See Rev. Mark for more info. Classes will be about an hour in the Youth Room. New Members will join on Feb 6.

Bethany Book Group- January's read is Leaving Church by Barbara Brown Taylor, which will be discussed next Sunday, Feb 6th.
Thing Spring-Think Flood-We need a list of volunteers who would be willing to come to the church at a moments notice to help move items out of the basement in case of a flood emergency. These items include chairs, tables etc. Also please let us know if you would be willing to call 2 or 3 other people on the list after you have been contacted. Gary Rogers will be the initial contact person and he will set up a phone tree once we have a list of names. Thank you in advance.
The Sunday School is finishing up a wonderful unit on San Antonio Grande, led by members of the congregation who’ve been there. Next up, on February 6 and 13, is a two-week unit on the story behind the hymn Amazing Grace. February 20 and 27 fall during school vacation week, and we plan to watch a movie during class those two weeks. We are having a great time with the children and youth of this Congregation!
Once again, Persephone Ringgenberg is participating in the Penguin Plunge - a fund raising event for Special Olympics Vermont that entails jumping into the icy waters of Lake Champlain on Saturday, February 5th! The Bethany Center for the Arts- presents Lynnette Combs, organist, playing a program titled "Northern Lights" at Bethany Church, 115 Main St in Montpelier, Sunday February 6 at 3:00 PM. Admission by donation, at the door. This is a recital of solo pipe organ music from Scandinavia and the Baltic countries. Music from the 17th through the 21st centuries will be heard, from Buxtehude to Part to Grieg. The influence of long days and short nights, as well as short days and long nights, can be heard in pieces such as "Geminorum Kastorum" which
is based on the movements of the stars. Lynnette Combs is organist at the First Baptist Church in Burlington and is well-known to Central Vermont audiences as an organist, harpsichordist and accompanist. In 2002 she was named Artist of the Year by the Vermont Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In 2010 she gave the Katherine E. Dopp recital at First Baptist Church in Burlington and the Samuel B. Whitney organ recital in Woodstock. This is her fourth year of giving organ recitals throughout Vermont. In the coming months she will present a program of music based on dance forms and music.
Bethany Bowl january 25- Fed 140, Head Cook: Judy Joy, Dishwasher: Gary Rogers and Tom Lever (who also picks up NECI soup from National Life,) Volunteers: Darlene Colby, Phyllis Rowell, Meri and Corky Nielsen, Pat Seivwright, Chris Terry, Pete Gomez, Cleo Facos, Joanne Hardy, John Hall and his friend Tucker. A class from Union School came to wash and set tables.
Bethany Bowl Cook Book- will be published for distribution in May, 2011. Want to submit recipes? We would like you to submit 3-5 (or more if you want; but we can't guarantee we will use them all) recipes for inclusion. Forms are available on the table in the Narthex AND in the Church office. Look for potentially more ways to access the submission form in the upcoming Dialog. We will be collecting the forms through Sunday, February 27th.
